Art Van Furniture Trustee Attempts to Recoup $3.1 Million From United Furniture Industries, Inc.
March 3, 2022, District of Delaware – Trustee Alfred T. Giuliano of Art Van Furniture, LLC, et al. brings a “clawback lawsuit” against United Furniture Industries, Inc. and First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company to avoid and recover $3,145,010.91 in alleged “preferences” under Section 547 of the Bankruptcy Code.
Before filing for bankruptcy, the Debtors offered their customers a wide array of home furnishings under several well-known brands, including Art Van Furniture, Pure Sleep, Scott Shuptrine Interiors, Levin Furniture, Levin Mattress, and Wolf Furniture. The case is In re Art Van Furniture, LLC, et al. in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, jointly administered under Case No. 20-10553 (CSS). Honorable Christopher S.
